A TAXI driver drove his vehicle onto a town traffic island after his brakes appeared to fail.
The taxi was being driven on the Coventry Highway near the Campanile Hotel at about 3.30pm on Saturday, September 30.
After discovering the apparent problem with the brakes, the driver steered his vehicle, a black Renault Laguna, onto the McDonalds island.
He was taken by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries. The passenger was not hurt.
