HOCKEY: In their first game since the Christmas break, Bishop's Stortford produced an excellent away performance to beat bitter rivals Colchester 3-1.
Stortford were eager to avenge the 5-2 defeat by Colchester earlier in the season and they showed great determination and commitment.
The first half was fast and furious and Stortford goalkeeper Matt Morris was on fine form, making a number of excellent saves.
The visitors took the lead when Richard Jones powerfully converted their first short corner.
Stortford weathered the storm after half-time and doubled their lead after a slick passing move upfield which ended in Ed Peachey rolling the ball into an empty net.
Colchester halved Stortford's advantage from a penalty corner but the away side soon made it 3-1.
Dan Lochhead broke through a number of tackles before crossing for Tony Colclough, who deflected skilfully into the roof of the net.
STORTFORD SQUAD: D Brown, V Brown, Bull, Colclough, Jones, Lochhead, Morris, Ostas, Peachey, Shearing, Shepherd, Slack.
