More than £20 million of National Lottery funding was invested in Haringey projects including Ally Pally and the CAB last year.

Lottery figures show 106 grants were awarded across the borough, providing a cash to local arts, sport and heritage and community groups helping the area’s most vulnerable people.

In 2013, grants awarded included:

  • £16.7million to Alexandra Palace to transform the eastern and most historically significant yet derelict parts of the building, making it accessible to the public.
  • £182,000 to Haringey Citizens Advice Bureau to improve both access and quality of advice provision in Haringey, increasing service efficiency and sustainability.
  • £5,863 to Haringey Wheelchair User Group to produce a DVD providing information and advice on exercises available for wheelchair users to overcome barriers to gaining exercise and fitness.

These projects, and any organisation which has received Lottery funding, could gain national recognition for their work in the National Lottery Awards 2014.

The awards have seven categories which reflecting an area of Lottery funding, they are: sport, heritage, arts, environment, health, education, and voluntary/charity.

The winners of categories will receive a £2,000 cash prize and national recognition at a star-studded event broadcast on BBC One later this year.
