A school in Tottenham held a day-long party to celebrate its first anniversary as an academy.

Holy Trinity CE Primary School, in Somerset Road, marked the occasion with a concert, cake, a gymnastics show and storytelling showcases.

Schoolchildren and staff celebrated on Friday, February 7, a year after the school changed its name from Green Church of England School in February 2013 to become an academy.

Simon Knowles, the school’s executive headteacher, said the day was a milestone in the school’s history.

He said: “Becoming an academy was an opportunity to give the school a fresh start.

“There’s been a real transformation here and it’s a testament to the quality and hard work of the students, teachers, parents, and school governors.

“Our ambition is to continue to build on the foundation of this year and make our success secure so the children can thrive academically and socially.”

Mr Knowles, the Mayor of Haringey Councillor Sheila Peacock and academy trust chief executive Liz Wolverson planted three trees in the school’s orchard to mark the occasion.

The Holy trinity Church of England primary school is a school of hope, love , truth , faith justice and learning. Their first birthday as an Academy has proved that there is nothing impossible if you believe that it can be done. We thank God for our school governors , the Holy trinity Church Tottenham church leaders and teachers of the school. The school has proved that , children need a place that is safe in order to learn and to feel worthwhile even if they have differences in the society. Children need to know that there is always an adult who is their when they need help in order to have faith . We as parents of the school and the teachers believe that children can make mistakes but making them does not mean that they can not change. The children in the Holy trinity CE school in Tottenham have mastered different skills in just a short time(under a year) this has made all of us very proud . To Prove this, you can go to the school website and find out how organised this school is . We feel blessed to have a CE primary school full of encouragement and potential in our area. Congratulation and happy birthday. With lots of love from Lilian Kaluma.
