Hornsey and Wood Green MP Lynne Featherstone will demand answers on Alexandra Parade Post Office closure
The MP for Hornsey and Wood Green has pledged to get answers from Royal Mail over the sudden closure of a popular Post Office.
Lynne Featherstone says there remain a series of unanswered questions over the Alexandra Parade branch, which shut over a dispute between the Post Office and the post master there.
The postal service insists the closure is temporary but customers are becoming increasingly worried the branch will not reopen.
The Liberal Democrat attended a public meeting on Saturday at South Friern Library, in Colney Hatch Lane, where local residents quizzed a Post Office representative on the closure.
But she says she will not be writing to the chief executive of the postal service after leaving the meeting dissatisfied with the answers given.
She said: “Post offices are a vital part of our local communities. They provide a range of services to local residents and attract people to the high street.
“The residents obviously care a great deal about the Alexandra Parade office – and I’m glad they were able to make their voices heard to the Post Office representative.
“There are still a number of unanswered questions about the closure, and about when the service will return. On behalf of local residents, I will contact the chief executive to get some answers.”
