Huge improvements see glowing inspection report for Tottenham's Ferry Lane Primary

A Tottenham primary school showed it had turned itself around when inspectors called.

Ferry Lane Primary, on Ferry Lane Estate, was rated "good" by education watchdog Ofsted in its recent inspection, with huge improvements made across the board to lift the school out of its 2012 "inadequate" rating.

The inspection in March, which looked at achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour, safety and leadership, ranked the school as "good" in all areas.

A report published on June 5 praised pupils' "rapid" development and added that the school was friendly and free of bullying.

Bounds Green School headteacher Will Wawn was made executive head of Ferry Lane Primary last year.

Acting head of school David Mackie said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Ofsted have recognised all of the progress and hard work at Ferry Lane and given the school the good rating that it deserves.

“We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and community-focused school and I’m really pleased to see both the good behaviour of pupils and the positive attitude of our parents singled out by the inspectors.

“We have a really committed team of teachers and staff, a supportive governing body and a wonderful group of children at Ferry Lane, and we look forward to working together to build even further on the progress we’ve already made.”
