A hit-and-run in Green Lanes has left a mother and baby in a serious condition in hospital.

The car, a blue Vauxhall Corsa, collided with another car, a yellow Seat, before mounting the pavement and hitting the woman as she pushed her child in a pram at around 8pm on Friday.

The driver of the car fled the scene, but was arrested after being stopped by members of the public.

Five men have been arrested in connection with the incident, including the driver of the Seat, who also drove off after the crash, and a male passenger in the Corsa.

The mother and child are currently in an east London hospital, where their condition has been described as serious but not life-threatening.
