A church celebrated the 200th anniversary of its Victorian architect.
Members of All Hallows’ Church, which was restored by William Butterfield between 1875 and 1877, held a service in memory of the architect on Sunday.
Dr Geoff Brandwood, an architectural historian, gave a lecture on Mr Butterfield’s work.
Father Pearson, vicar of All Hallows', said: “I was delighted to welcome so many to All Hallows’ on Sunday, to celebrate the life and work of William Butterfield.
“Not only did he do so much for the stunning interior at All Hallows’, but his work and influence can be seen across the whole diocese and therefore it was only fitting he should be honoured in this way.”
