A pressure group seeking justice for the family of a man killed by police will hold a public meeting at the weekend.

Mark Duggan was shot dead by an armed police officer in Ferry Lane, Tottenham on August 4, 2011, sparking rioting in Tottenham and looting in London and cities throughout the UK.

Police claimed Mr Duggan was involved in gang violence and was holding a gun at the time of his death.

An inquest that ended in January concluded that the 29-year-old had been lawfully shot, but that he did not have the gun found close to the scene of the shooting in his hand.

A judicial review held after Mr Duggan's family challenged the verdict took place place on July 9 and 10. The family believes the coroner misdirected the jury at the inquest. A judgement is not expected until next month.

The Justice 4 Mark Duggan Campaign will meet at North London Community Centre, in Moorefield Road, Tottenham, on Saturday from 5pm to 8pm.
