A church youth worker could avoid a jail sentence, despite admitting to sexual activity with two children.

Kirk Edwards, 25, admits sexually touching the two girls, who were 'not far from their 16th birthdays', between March and June 2012.

He pleaded guilty to two sex offences on the day of trial at the Old Bailey.

In statements from the victims, who cannot be named for legal reasons, one girl said she felt “scared" and blamed herself.

The other stated: “At first I didn't want to go to talk to police. I would not have taken it further.

“Now I see it was not right and see it was really serious.”

Judge Mark Lucraft QC adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

Edwards will be sentenced on February 13, but the judge indicated any custodial sentence is likely to be suspended.

Edwards, of Northcott Avenue, Wood Green, admitted two counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
