An inquest into the death of a six-month-old baby in Tottenham is due to open tomorrow.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to reports of an unresponsive baby at an address in Trulock Road, Northumberland Park on Friday January 23 at 1.35pm.

The baby boy was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to the North Middlesex hospital.

He was later transferred to Great Ormond Street hospital where he died at 10.56am on Monday January 26.

A post mortem carried out on Thursday January 29 gave the cause of death as a head injury.

A 26-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested on Sunday January 25 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and taken to separate police stations.

The pair were later bailed to return in February pending further enquiries.

Haringey Borough Council confirmed the boy was not on the child protection list.

A council statement said: "We are aware of the recent death of a child in Haringey. The council is working with the police to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

“The independently-chaired Local Safeguarding Children Board will consider commissioning a review to look at the role of all agencies involved.”
