Young female cricketers from Haringey scooped a medal at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Sunday.

The Haringey girls team won a bronze medal at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games Indoor Cricket finals being held at the home of cricket.

In the opening game of the day Haringey faced Kingston and proved too strong for the opposition chasing down a total of 93 in their allotted overs.

In the semi-finals they were up against an impressive Bromley who put on 127 in their ten overs.

Haringey made a poor start with the bat however they rallied well and some sensible batting ensured that they reached 100 in their innings but it was too little too late.

Team manager Martin Issett said: “We were pleased to get to Lord’s.

“We thought this was a good chance to make the girls train very hard and we worked out how to play this indoor game and when we came we were hoping for a medal.

“The semi-final was seriously a really good game of cricket against a very strong Bromley team who I think we ran fairly close as well and there’s no disgrace losing to them.”
