Two men have been jailed for kidnapping and raping a young woman.

The victim, in her twenties, was dumped in Wood Green after the attack in the early hours of Saturday March 8.

Salah Mohammed, 31, of Varley Road, Canning Town, was sentenced to nine years for kidnap and encouraging rape after being found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court yesterday.

His friend Mohammed Sallah, 38, of Highlands Road, Walthamstow, was jailed for seven years and two months for rape after pleading guilty.

The court heard how on Friday March 7 of last year Salah Mohammed was approached in the evening by the victim’s friend, who asked him to take the victim home as she had been drinking and felt unwell.

He was given £10 for the fare and the victim’s friend took a photograph of the vehicle’s registration plate and called the victim’s family to say the woman was on her way home.

Instead of taking her home, Mohammed had taken the woman to the home of his friend, Mohammed Sallah, eight miles away in Walthamstow, where Sallah raped her in his house.

After the rape the victim was taken by Salah Mohammed to Wood Green where she was let out of the car and was able to contact her family and speak to police to report the offence.

Detective constable Dele Bolude from the Metropolitan Police's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said: “This was a despicable crime.

“I would like to praise the victim’s courage in coming forward and reporting it to police.

“I hope this sentence sends a clear message regarding the seriousness of this type of offending and gives other victims of sexual offences the courage to come forward.”
