Girls from two schools got the chance to play on the hallowed turf at White Hart Lane yesterday.

Pupils from Nightingale Academy in Nightingale Road, Enfield, and Walthamstow School for Girls in Church Hill, Walthamstow, played a football match on the pitch at White Hart Lane with the Enfield girls running out 4-0 winners.

The teenagers received team talks delivered by Spurs Ladies footballers beforehand and were watched over by an FA referee and two linesman on a reduced sized pitch marked out with cones.

Hazal Ivecen, 13, from the victorious Nightingale Academy team said: “I love playing football and to be given the chance to play at the home of Tottenham Hotspur was an amazing experience – I’ll never forget it.

“We spoke to some of the Spurs Ladies players who gave us some tips on developing our game. It has been a really fun day and the fact that our team won made it even better.

“It just shows you what your life could be like if you push yourself.”

The game was watched over by Spurs Ladies first team manager Karen Hills along with a number of the players under her watch.

They had taken time out from their day jobs to encourage the girls, give them some tactical advice and watch the game unfold.

Spurs Ladies player Kate O’Leary said: “We met some talented young players today and they all worked hard in the match.

“The excitement on their faces when they walked down the tunnel was great to see – they all clearly have a passion for the game. I hope they take on board some of the tips we gave them and most of all, keep playing.”

The girls all received their own personalised kit for the game which was provided by club sponsor AIA, a global insurance company who worked with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to organise the event.
