A survey by the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust has shown overwhelming support for a move to Wembley.

The club will have to relocate for one season as it is not viable for them to remain at White Hart Lane stadium in High Road, Tottenham, for the entire duration of the project to build their new ground.

Stadium MK in Milton Keynes and Wembley stadium have emerged as the two main possibilities but many supporters don’t fancy the 108 mile round trip to Buckinghamshire.

Amid the uncertainty the supporters trust carried out a survey to gauge what option supporters would like to see and the national stadium came out top convincingly with 82% of the vote and only 18% option for MK.

Of the 82% of respondents 61% said they were either unlikely or highly unlikely to watch games at Stadium MK should that option become a reality.

If Milton Keynes were to be chosen 40% of season ticket holders said they would not renew their season tickets despite the offer of an amnesty from the club.

The amnesty would mean those season ticket holders not wishing to renew their tickets for the season away would still keep their seat when the club returns to White Hart Lane.

When the survey was launched in May, Arsenal fans were encouraged to complete it in support of a move to Milton Keynes, a move which the supporters trust welcomed as highlighting the importance of Spurs in north London.

The trust said in a statement: “The efforts Arsenal fans were prepared to go to emphasises the point we have always made about the importance of THFC remaining in London during any period away from White Hart Lane.

“We are sure Daniel Levy and the THFC Board will recognise the conclusions that must be drawn, and we’d like to thank the many Arsenal supporters who filled in the survey for helping us make our point.”
