A department store which has stood on a busy shopping street for a lifetime is facing closure.
Marks and Spencer in High Road, Wood Green first opened its doors 77 years ago in 1938 and has been a landmark in the shopping district ever since.
M&S's head office has put forward proposals to close the store, which employs 59 staff, as it is no longer financially viable.
A spokesman for M&S said: “After much consideration we have taken the difficult decision to propose the closure of the Wood Green store.
“We have been offering roles for all colleagues in nearby stores if the proposal goes ahead.”
