A MAN who robbed a Green Lanes bookmakers at gunpoint has been jailed.

Unemployed Rodney Adams, 40, of no fixed abode, was sentenced on October 23 at Wood Green Crown Court, in Lordship Lane, having pleaded guilty to robbery and firearm offences.

He was handed seven years for each conviction which he will serve concurrently.

Adams was one of two men who targeted Coral betting shop, in Green Lanes, on September 6, 2008.

While the other man acted as look-out, Adams entered the shop and threatened the two members of staff with an imitation firearm and making off with £600 from the tills.

Adams demanded that staff open the safe, but they were unable to do so as it is time-locked.

Having taken what he could, Adams threatened the 22 year-old female cashier, saying: "Don't set off any alarms or I'll shoot you."

The member of staff was left so traumatised by the attack she quit her job.

Adams was idenitified from CCTV footage He then left the shop with his accomplice and he was arrested on Friday 10 July this year.

He was subsequently charged on Monday 27 July.

Police are still hunting his accomplice who is described as a black man in his 30s.
