A TOTTENHAM man has been charged with killing a pensioner who was tied up in her flat in Stamford Hill and died of hypothermia.

Eveline Kelmenson was found dead on New Year's Day 2009 in the flat where she lived alone, her leg having been tied together with duct tape.

A post mortem examination revealed the 83-year-old died from hypothermia and tests established she may have been bound and left alone in November 2008.

Czymon Wyrostek, 25, a Polish national from Broad Lane, Tottenham, appeared in court today charged with the manslaughter of Mrs Kelmenson.

He has also been accused of burgling the pensioners flat and robbing her, and Redbridge Magstrates remanded Mr Wyrostek in custody until November 4.

Another defendant, Kuba Dlugosz, 32, was charged with manslaughter and burglary at a hearing in July, and he will appear at the Old Bailey on November 4.
