A STREET-CLEANING depot in a Hornsey park subject to a six-month campaign for its removal will finally be moved next week.
Haringey Council and waste contractor Veolia agreed to remove the depot, surrounded by a 9ft metal fence, in November after users of Stationers Park in Mayfield Road branded it “ugly”.
Equipment stored in the hut was not even used to clean the small park, which has just been refurbished.
In April last year, the old park keeper's shed was fenced off without consultation after Veolia was handed a contract to keep the borough's streets clean, but the Friends of Stationers Park objected.
Work to remove the depot will begin on Monday, and Councillor Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for environment, promised the area would be used to look after the park again within weeks.
