A transport director has apologised today for the “poor performance” of a Haringey bus route.

Clare Kavanagh, who is the director of performance for London buses, admits there have been problems with the W3 bus route, which receives the most complaints out of all London routes in London.

Politicians have been lobbying for improvements since the damning figures were by TfL, which revealed the route, which travels from Finsbury Park to Northumberland Park, received 52 complaints per 100,000 journeys in November.

The director said: “TfL and Arriva, the operator of route W3, have made a number of changes to help improve the performance of this route.

“This has included the introduction of new buses and changes to the route schedule to improve reliability.

“TfL apologises for the poor performance of this service recently and would like to reassure passengers that these improvements, along with further changes to the schedule due to be implemented in May, will ensure a better service for the future.”

She also promised to continue to monitor the route closely to ensure the improvements are successfully introduced in the coming months.

Liberal Democrat politicians, including leader of the party Richard Wilson, surveyed passengers using the route at Finsbury Park bus station on Thursday.

The politicians were keen to find out whether customers deem there to be enough buses at rush hour and at weekends, as many of the complaints said overcrowding was a major issue on the bus.

The results of the survey are expected to be released next month.
