Haringey Council has launched three consultations on the expansion of primary schools as increased demand is set to leave 310 children without a school place by 2024.

Three schools, St James C of E on Woodside Avenue, St Mary’s C of E on Rectory Gardens,  and  Bounds Green Infant and Junior School on Bounds Green Road are set to grow.

Parents, teachers, and local residents will be among those to have their say on the proposed expansions.

The council says it is keen to find a “permanent and sustainable” solution to the increasing numbers of children needing primary school places, which it says has grown by more than 300 over the last ten years.

If all three expansions were to go ahead the intake at Bounds Green and St Mary’s schools would be increased from two forms of entry (60 children) to three forms of entry (90 children) per year. St James primary school would increase from one form of entry (30 children) to three forms of entry (90 children) per year.

In the first year only the reception classes would have an additional class added, so pupils already at the school would stay in the same sized year group as they are currently in.
