More than 100 children and young people from an inclusive theatre company will take to the stage on Friday.

Young actors from the Haringey Shed will perform their play The Wishmaker for the first time at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Town Hall Approach Road, Tottenham on Friday.

The play charts the struggle of a young person trying to come to terms with growing up and follows a girl called CJ who witnesses a series of events that change her life forever.

As well as employing a professional writer to work alongside the cast, Arts Council funding enabled the group to work with leading urban dance company ZooNation.

Executive director Jim Shepley said: “The show is a culmination of three months' work devising, scripting, choreographing and set-building.

“It’s a tribute to the work of the young people involved.

“We are very pleased to have the backing of the Arts Council England for the third time in two years. Without their support we would have been able to put on a show like this.”

The first performance of The Wishmaker takes place on Friday at 7pm, with showings on Saturday at 2.30pm and 5pm.

Haringey Shed welcomes anyone between the ages of seven and 25 who is interested in the performing arts, no matter what their skill level.
