KEEN film makers are being given the chance to celebrate London’s heritage and see their film on the big screen.

Mosaic Films has partnered with Film London, the British Film Institute and London’s Screen Archives network in an online film competition called London Recut.

Entrants can edit archive films of London and their own video and sound footage to create a short film showing their response to London life today using online editing software available from the competition's website.

Submitted films will be shortlisted by a public vote and then a special jury of Londoners will chose the best four.

Winning films will be shown on the big screen at Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival in July and as part of a touring programme throughout London.

Residents of Haringey are also invited to take part in a free documentary film making and editing workshop. The three-hour session will teach 20 people how to use online editing software and how to put together a simple documentary.

The workshop takes place on Saturday April 24 from 1-4pm at Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Town Hall Approach Road.

The workshop is free but booking is essential. Anyone interested in taking part can email Andy Robson on londonrecut@mosaicfilms.com with “BGAC Workshop” in the subject line. Include full name, daytime contact number and address, including postcode, and email by Wednesday 21st April.
