AN eleven-storey block of luxury apartments in Tottenham's Hale Village will feature a roof garden and allotments when it opens next summer.

The building – Block NW1 - is the next development of the £350 million project to open and offers 102 homes as well as a community space where residents can enjoy the views of the River Lea.

Hale Village is the brainchild of Lee Valley Estates in partnership with Newlon Housing Trust and United House and set on the old GLS depot site between Tottenham Hale Sation and the Lea Valley Navigation.

Once complete it will be comprised of 1,200 private homes, shared ownership and socially-rented in addition to student flats, a hotel, space for businesses, a community centre and plenty of green space.

It is expected to be completed by 2013.

Michael Polledri MBE, chairman of Lee Valley Estates, said: "With our partners we're working to establish a successful new community at Hale Village, so another building of 102 future homes reaching roof level represents an important milestone in this challenging economic climate.

"Hale Village will create jobs, enhance the area's amenities and will be an attractive place to live, with the latest in green technologies utilised throughout the development."

It is part of Haringey Council's vision to regenerate Tottenham Hale which includes projects from Transport for London to shelve the unpopular one-way system and upgrade the Tube, train station and bus terminals.
