Tottenham are expected to launch a surprise bid for former striker Dimitar Berbatov in the January transfer window.
Berbatov left White Hart Lane for Manchester United at the end of the summer transfer window in 2008 before joining Fulham in August 2012.
The Bulgarian was a fan's favourite during his time at Spurs where he scored 27 goals in 70 league appearances.
Tottenham are targetting short-term transfers and loan deals in January after spending more than £100m in the summer.
The club are also keen to save available funds until the summer when the managerial situation becomes clearer.
Spurs are however keen to bring in a striker especially as Jermain Defoe is expected to leave for MLS side Toronto in March and Berbatov is considered to be a viable option.
The 32-year-old only has six months remaining on his current contract and recently expressed his desire to leave the relegation-threatened Cottagers.
